Today is Day #79 of our Nar Anon Group Just For Today Challenge. I am also integrating the Live Happy into my Challenge. The Live Happy Challenge for today is to take a ten minute stretch break during your busy day.
At work we do stretching exercises every morning. We are on our feet for ten to twelve hours so it often helps stretching our legs and back.
The book says,
You know how stiff your body feels when you finally get up out of that chair after hours of crunching numbers, or going through the mail, or staring at the computer screen while trying to make sense of some business project.
Think about it. A little ache or pain once in a while is one thing, but chronic daily abuse of your body is unhealthy. It takes only a few minutes to stretch.
Some stretches can be done sitting in a chair or standing in front of your desk. If you happen to have a yoga mat, take it with you on your break or lunch hour to a private, peaceful area in your workplace or outside in nature and do some stretches combined with breath work and meditation.
You'll feel rejuvenated and centered and your body's flexibility will be restored.
I found a webpage with simple yoga exercises you can do in your chair. I for one have trouble with my knees and back. Yoga poses are possible without the risk of having to call 9-1-1 to help get you up off of the floor.
Living Words of Wisdom webpage says,
"If you work at a desk all day this form of yoga can be a great pick-me-up and tension reliever. I know from experience that when you get caught up in an assignment, especially when working at a computer (and who doesn’t these days?); your body just locks into one position and muscles get tense. You’re so involved in what you are doing that you don’t feel the results until the end of the day." Click to read>>>> Basic Chair Yoga Poses
Just For Today: I am thankful for the most simplest things in life. Even if it is from doing some simple exercise to restore my body.
From the book: Live Happy
The Devil At the Door is... Heroin. Heroin doesn't discriminate. It destroys lives and families and is robbing our community. These pages are the personal Chronicles of loving a child who uses and abuses heroin and opiates. You can also find what I hope to be helpful links, info and resources as well as sometimes whatever is on my mind at the moment... even an occasional venting!
